Lafayette, CO — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced a total of $1,140,000 in Community Project Funding for Larimer County. Rep. Neguse successfully championed and secured the investments as part of the first set of government funding bills signed into law by President Biden on Saturday, March 9. The funding includes $640,000 for the Food Bank for Larimer County to implement much-needed updates and expand its services; and $500,000 for Colorado State University to renovate and improve the Christman Airfield, which is utilized for aviation research and training for wildfire fighting.
“I am proud to have fought to secure funding that will help make Larimer County healthier, safer and stronger—investing in two community-based projects that benefit households and families in Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park and beyond,” said Congressman Neguse. “Funding for the Food Bank for Larimer County will help this critical organization to ensure food assistance for local families, making updates that expand its capacity for serving our communities. And the investment for Colorado State University will support training programs for aerial firefighting and emergency management, bolstering our state’s ability to respond to the increasing threat of wildfire. Together, we are taking action and making a real difference for our state.”
“The refrigeration upgrades will allow us to safely and efficiently deliver food to over 45,000 Larimer County residents experiencing food insecurity annually. We are proud to partner with Congressman Neguse on these critical infrastructure upgrades. The funding will allow us to continue our focus on our important work – a hunger-free Larimer County. Thank you, Congressman Neguse, for supporting us in this critical mission!” said Amy Pezzani, CEO of Food Bank for Larimer County.
“We are grateful to Congressman Neguse for recommending funding that will upgrade our airstrip, Christman Field, for emergency firefighting operations across the Front Range and improve drone training and research for our region,” said Christopher Robertson, Drone Center Director, Colorado State University Drone Center.
