LOVELAND, COLO. – September 2025 – Throughout history, people in America have united to drive change. This September, during Hunger Action Month, the Food Bank for Larimer County is calling on Larimer County to come together once again to end hunger in America.
“People across the country have demonstrated immense care for their neighbors in crisis time and time again, helping to build stronger, more resilient communities,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “Ending the hunger crisis in America is no different. When we all work together, alongside our neighbors facing hunger, we can find solutions to ensure that everyone has the food they need to thrive. This Hunger Action Month, our hope for the nation is to start building this new reality together, through unified action toward a shared vision of a hunger free America.”
Food insecurity in the United States has reached its highest rate in over a decade, reaching over 47 million people facing hunger, including 14 million children.
In Larimer County, the Food Bank provided hunger-relief services to 54,570 people in the last fiscal year. Out of its Nutritious Kitchen, the Food Bank provided 88,885 meals and snacks for children and 24,581 meals for adults.
With the largest cuts to SNAP and Medicaid in history now signed into law, food and health care will soon be further out of reach for millions of people — including children. Hunger in America is a crisis—and together, we can meet this moment.
NAP benefits provide families facing food insecurity with funds to buy groceries. This assistance not only reduces hunger but also strengthens local economies. Last year alone, SNAP spending generated a $6.5 million boost to our local community. While people don’t need SNAP to use the Food Bank, many of those we serve rely on it to stretch their food budget. When these benefits are reduced or lost, families turn to the Food Bank for additional support to make ends meet.
That’s why during this Hunger Action Month, support from the community will be crucial to meeting an expected increase in need for services.
People can get involved locally by donating at foodbanklarimer.org or through the actions below:

“Our food banks – while incredibly effective – cannot replace the scale of federal programs,” said Food Bank CEO Amy Pezzani. “This September, and beyond, support from our community will be critical to ensuring that everyone who needs fresh and nutritious food can get it. We are rallying our community to unite and find at least one way that they can make a difference this Hunger Action Month.”
