In early June 1984, Sandy Bowden decided it was time to help the community around her. With a card table, a folding chair, a phone and $100, she opened the Larimer County Food Distribution Center in a 900-square-foot building in Fort Collins.
“In a country of plenty, we should be aware of those who are hungry and eliminate this hunger,” Bowden told a newspaper in 1985, according to a recent release. “It is within our power to see that no one in Larimer County goes hungry.
