Mari
Mari lives in low-income housing for adults 62 and older.
She is not only a Food Bank client, but also is a proxy shopper for six of the residents in her community. She said some of the residents are in wheelchairs or use walkers.
Taking the bus to the Food Bank would be a challenge, so she signed up to shop for them.
Brooke and Louden
On a recent shopping trip, Brooke said she was most excited about finding cupcakes to help celebrate Louden’s upcoming 3rd birthday.
While she receives SNAP, the benefits alone aren’t enough to meet all of their nutritional needs.
“It fills the gap for us to make sure all the ends are met,” she said.
Hannah
Hannah is a full-time student at Colorado State University.
“Food is expensive,” she said. “Because our rent is so expensive, it just helps.”
Thanks to the Food Bank, she said she expects to have more money to put toward her rent and the opportunity to also put money in savings.
“They’re really nice and do a great job with the people who come in,” she said about the staff.
Cliff & Vicki
Cliff and Vicki visit the mobile pantry every Thursday that’s available to pick up food for themselves and for their 55-year-old daughter, Jennie, who is disabled.
“It is a blessing. Believe me. It’s a blessing for us for sure and I know it is for our daughter.”
Michelle
Michelle, a retiree, has found a community among the Larimer County campground she calls home. In the shared clubhouse space, Michelle is able to share what she gathers at our No Cost Market with her neighbors.
She shared gratitude for the retail partners who help to provide the Food Bank with a variety of food to distribute.
“I’m glad they’re bringing it here and we’re keeping it out of the landfills. Everyone wins,” Michelle said.
